2012 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize Winner!

Jen has won the 2012 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize with The Nether, nominated by Center Theatre Group. The Prize is given annually to recognize women who have written works of outstanding quality for the English-speaking theatre. Read more in the LA Times!

The Nether will see its world premiere with Center Theatre Group at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Spring 2013.

Highlights of 2011 in LA Theater

Breadcrumbs at Theater 150 in Ojai

Breadcrumbs, directed by Jessica Kubzansky, was selected as a Highlight of 2011 in LA Theater by the LA Stage Times. The production ran at Theater 150 in Ojai, CA and won a Critic's Pick review in Backstage.

CTG Writers' Workshop

Jen joined Center Theatre Group's 2011-2012 Writers' Workshop. Seven playwrights meet over the course of the year, each working on a new play informed by professionals in the Los Angeles community. She's working on a new play about culture and architecture called Sustainable Living.

Froggy at Sundance, Banff Centre, A.C.T.

This past fall was busy with music and staging for Froggy with director Matt M. Morrow and composer Nathan Leigh. In October the team traveled back to The Banff Centre, where Nathan composed an amazing soundtrack. (LISTEN HERE TO DEMOS!) In December the work continued during a workshop at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Froggy was developed in April 2011 at the Sundance Theatre Lab at the Banff Centre in Banff National Park, Canada.

The Nether at the O'Neill, Lark, PTC@Play

Directed by Steve Cosson, The Nether was read at Philadelphia Theatre Company's PTC@Play in March 2012. Directed by Lisa Peterson, The Nether was read in the Lark Play Development Center Playwrights Week in New York and developed at the The O'Neill National Playwrights Conference in 2011.

Neighborhood 3 was produced in 2011 by Las Vegas Little Theatre, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater in Wellfleet CT, Glass Mind Theatre in Baltimore and The American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater Institute in Cambridge MA.

The Apocalypse at Humana

Jen co-created a piece about the Apocalypse for Actors Theatre of Louisville's talented apprentice company. The End, by Dan Dietz, Jennifer Haley, Allison Moore, A. Rey Pamatmat and Marco Ramirez, appeared at the 2011 Humana Festival.
